When will Philippines support SMS with twitter?

Twitter just partnered with Australia’s mobile titan Telstra to provide SMS support for Twitter. As is typical, receiving notifications is free, with standard text message rates applying for sending tweets via SMS.

If you happen to live in Australia and your mobile provider is Telstra, you can enable the service by sending the text message “START” to 0198089488. Associating your phone with your Twitter account will enable all the usual Twitter text commands.

Officially, this adds Australia to the list of countries supporting tweets via SMS. Below is the list of countries supporting tweets via SMS.

  • United Kingdom
  • Canada
  • India
  • Indonesia
  • New Zealand
  • Australia

I wonder when will they be having this in Philippines. Twitter blog says there will be more countries supported soon. Facebook SMS support is already in Philippines since mid way this year, (2009). Tweeter is under rated here in Philippines but I hope they will support this soon. I hope we can learn to appreciate twitter, I think its already in its peak and we should not miss this era in our rapidly changing technology. You may ask why you need a twitter account? I just found out about this promo on PCexpress website. If you buy any of their recent models of LCD monitors, you are entitled to a FREE Samsung E1080 mobilie phone. Promo period is from November 18 to December 31, 1009 and redemption period for the FREE Samsung E1080 is until March 1, 2010. Below is the mechanics of the promo. You can claim the FREE Samsung E1080 on the shop where you bought the LCD monitor. I am also planning on buying one of these LCDs 19″-24″ with my 13th monthpay as the budget. I will just give the free mobile phone to my younger brothers.

Mechanics:

1. For every purchase of any qualified Samsung LCD Monitor (LD190G, LD220G,P2050, P2250, P2270G, P2370G, T240HD, 2333HD) at participating Samsung dealers, purchasing customers are entitled to a FREE Samsung E1080 mobilie phone.

2. To redeem the FREE Samsung E1080, qualified customers must register at ph.samsungmobile.com by clicking the “contact us” icon at the bottom of the homepage followed by the “click here” icon at the “mobile downloads & ph.samsungmoible.com queries” section. After which, qualified customers are required to fill out the information requested and place in the “content” field the following information: Samsung LCD Monitor model purchased Store where the Samsung LCD Monitor was purchased Sales invoice number Preferred Samsung concept shop branch where the FREE Samsung E1080 is to be claimed.

3. All successfully registered customers will recieve confirmation email from Samsung Fun Club containing the estimated date the FREE Samsung E1080 will be available for pick-up at the customer’s preferred Samsung concept shop branch.

4. Within a maximum two week period from date of registration, registered customers shall be contacted by Samsung via email or voice call and registered mail confirming the availability of the FREE Samsung E1080 at their preferred Samsung concept shop branch.

5. Upon redemption at the selected Samsung concept shop, qualified customers are required to surrender the following: Photocopy of the Samsung LCD Monitor sales invoice.

6. Samsung reserves the right to refuse redemption for reasons such as non-registration via online or failure to present the required documents as stated in the promo mechanics.

7. Promo period is from November 18 to December 31, 1009.

8. Redemption period for the FREE Samsung E1080 is until March 1, 2010.
